autumn handbags and totes

Autumn is here and its nearly winter. Just sorting out the christmas markets and making the preserves for the following year, chutneys, pickles jams and jellies. This year there is so much fruit about.

Having made a good supply of mint chutney, I was inspired to cut out a 3/4 coat that Carols sister brought for me to creat things out of! And create I did….I cut out 1 hand bag, 2 totes, and then out of the scraps, 2 jewellery wraps out of the sleeves. I even allowed for some handles out of long bits of fabric. Had a cuppa and promptly cut the handles fabric out into a nother tote! Now I have to get creative and make handles out of something else! What a plonker…teach me for having a coffee break. Look out for the Mint chutney bags to come on line soon

handbag inspiration

hiya
just spent 6 days in Shetland filling my sences with inspiration on colour, texture and a wee bit of culture and some kiddy hugs. Look for the new handbags and totes coming through. L

tweed rugby jesery

last week I made a tween rugby jesery for Him. It looks fab and he must like it as hes worn it every day since. I might have to add the style to the Albawear mens range in the future.

Tweed dog coats

Another wet day and so sewing was in order. Filled an order for a dog coat for the wee terrier at the bottom of the street. I made it from a tartan skirt in a charity shop that happend to meet the requested colours  and lined it with fleece to keep the wee pooch warm.

Julie

Im very pleased you are enjoying your new bag. I hope every time you open it, a smile will come. Handbags are great places to keep treasures if you dont want to use it every day! Oh …. and I really enjoyed making yours. Enjoy. L

handbags and totes

Been wet outside, so I made handbags and totes instead of playing in the garden. Used some tweed skirts that I had brought from the charity shop and made some splendid handbags and totes. I lined them with silky satin and one with pongas! Yep…pongas, a  funky kiwi cotton print from New Zealand with pongas all over it!

Oh and an tailored Avoca coat, now is a stunning bag, Now that might just have to go to Avoca Park in Melbourne Australia.

Tingwall Market this saturday

Allow me to introduce you to Bea, one of the brighest young stars in my life will have the Albawear range of accessories at the Tingwall Market this Saturday 3 october. Go along if you live  in Shetland and have a look and put in your Chirstmas present requests.

As for me, I will be working with some new colours of tweeds, all woven in the Highlands of Scotland so keep an eye on the web site for the new colours. First , though …..I might have to make a coat. I just love the red which Ive called Torridon. I called it that because it reminds me of the reds and purples, with flecks of pale orange,  of the Torridon mountains in the Highlands.  And of course , it will have purple lining !
